The quaint town of Mayberry...

Phew! One look at our schedule lately shows just how many directions we go in. Besides getting the house ready for company, it is the end of the school year for the kids, and all their work samples and progress reports are due. Of course, this is right during baseball season, dance recital and new jobs. The next three days are a whirlwind of one activity after another.
Regardless of how late it is or how much we have going on, we gather together at night before bed and watch an old DVD. We've watched "I Love Lucy," "Gomer Pyle," "The Waltons," "Leave It To Beaver," "The Brady Bunch," "Green Acres," "Gilligan's Island," "Petticoat Junction," "F-Troop," and "Hogan's Heroes."
But there is something special about "The Andy Griffith Show." Just watching Aunt Bea in the kitchen, humming while she is cooking up something good,...or watching Andy and Opie sitting on the porch, singing hymns while Andy plays the guitar...I guess the calm and slow-paced life looks mighty inviting during crazy times like these.
So, go pour yourself a lemonade, and watch an old DVD. For just awhile, you too can be a resident of Mayberry.
